Necrosis is a form of cell injury that results in the premature death of tissue in a living organism. It typically occurs when cells are exposed to harmful conditions such as infection, lack of blood supply (ischemia), toxins, or trauma. Unlike apoptosis, which is a controlled and programmed form of cell death, necrosis is uncontrolled and often leads to inflammation and damage to surrounding tissues.
