Implantation

Implantation is the process by which a fertilized egg (embryo) attaches to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) in early pregnancy. This typically occurs 6–10 days after ovulation. Some individuals experience light spotting or mild cramping during implantation, which is often mistaken for an early period. Implantation is a critical step for a pregnancy to continue developing.
