An endometrial biopsy is a procedure in which a small sample of tissue is taken from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) to check for abnormalities such as precancerous changes, endometrial hyperplasia, or hormonal imbalances. It is commonly performed to investigate irregular bleeding or to monitor response to hormone therapy. The procedure is done in-office, often without anesthesia, and may cause brief cramping.
