Embryo transfer is the final step of an in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycle, where one or more embryos are placed into the uterus using a thin catheter. The procedure is painless for most patients and typically done without anesthesia. Success depends on embryo quality, endometrial receptivity, and hormonal support. It is often followed by a luteal phase support regimen and a pregnancy test after 9–14 days.
