Lupron is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist that temporarily shuts down ovarian hormone production. It is used to treat conditions like endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and hormone-sensitive cancers, and is also used in IVF cycles for pituitary downregulation. By lowering estrogen, Lupron reduces pain and abnormal bleeding, but it can also cause temporary menopause-like symptoms such as hot flashes and bone thinning.
