Nipple discharge refers to any fluid that comes out of the nipple, which can vary in color, consistency, and cause. While often benign and related to hormonal changes, certain types—especially bloody or spontaneous discharge—can signal underlying issues such as infections, intraductal papillomas, or breast cancer. Evaluation often includes clinical examination, imaging, and possibly ductal sampling.
